Technical Integration & Developer Notes
ResearchRabbit is a browser-based web application with no public API currently documented. Its core technical features are accessible through the web UI at researchrabbit.ai.
Key technical capabilities:
- Zotero Sync: Native bi-directional integration with the Zotero reference manager — import collections from Zotero and push newly discovered papers back seamlessly.
- Citation graph engine: Traverses forward (citing) and backward (cited-by) citation networks to surface both seminal works and cutting-edge follow-up research.
- Semantic clustering: AI algorithms group papers into topic clusters, visually surfaced through interactive network graphs to aid in identifying research pockets.
- Large-scale index: Queries an index of 310M+ papers, encompassing journals and preprints across disciplines including medicine, neuroscience, environmental science, and more.
- Collection-based workspace: Users organize papers into named collections that act as the context window for AI recommendations, enabling focused, project-specific discovery.
There is currently no public REST API or SDK. Researchers building automated pipelines may want to combine ResearchRabbit's UI-based discovery with Zotero's API for programmatic access to curated collections.
