Technical Setup & Developer Notes

Data Sources

Noloco connects to the following data sources with real-time sync:

  • Airtable — full read/write sync via Airtable API
  • Google Sheets — live sync, schema auto-detected
  • PostgreSQL / MySQL — direct SQL database connections
  • SmartSuite — native integration

AI Columns (OpenAI-powered)

AI Columns use the OpenAI API under the hood. You configure a prompt template against any field(s) in your data source, and Noloco runs inference to populate or classify records automatically. No custom code needed.

MCP Server

Noloco ships an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that exposes your app's data and actions to AI assistants:

Connect Claude, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible assistant → Noloco MCP endpoint → your app's records, views, and actions

This enables AI agents to read, create, and update records in your Noloco app programmatically.

Workflow Automation

Custom workflows are configured in a visual editor with:

  • Trigger: record creation, update, form submission, or scheduled time
  • Actions: send email, update a record, call a webhook, trigger a Zapier/Make zap, or post to Slack

Permissions

Role-based access control (RBAC) is enforced at the view, field, and action level. Public access scopes can be defined to expose specific pages without login while keeping other content private.

Integrations via Webhook / Zapier / Make

For custom integrations, Noloco supports outbound webhooks and connects natively to Zapier and Make (formerly Integromat), giving access to 5,000+ downstream apps.
